A Fighter, A Family, A Forester
Louie the brave.
At easyauto123, we receive hundreds of car enquiries every single day from customers across Australia and New Zealand. But every now and then, one message stops us in our tracks.
That’s exactly what happened at our Mile End South store recently - just minutes after our team had wrapped up a planning session for the launch of Cars for Good.
The easyauto123 Mile End South team.
One enquiry came through from a parent looking to trade in their 2012 Pajero. The tone was raw, heartfelt, and urgent:
“My son is currently in hospital battling leukaemia and a life-threatening infection. I’m looking to downsize and consolidate my costs, but I also need something practical that can fit a wheelchair. It’s difficult to arrange test drives as I’m juggling hospital visits and caring for my two daughters. I hope you can understand and help.”
The team didn’t hesitate. Without discussion or debate, they all knew: this was our first Cars for Good recipient.
This was for Louie the Brave.
Louie is a bright, energetic 7-year-old from South Australia who’s been handed one of the toughest hands life can deal.
In February 2025, he was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. What followed was a confronting treatment plan - surgeries, bone marrow biopsies, painful lumbar punctures, and extended hospital stays.
Then, heartbreakingly, things took an even more serious turn.
In March, Louie developed a rare and life-threatening bacterial infection, pseudomonas, which spread to his central nervous system. It caused meningitis and inflicted significant damage to his left leg, leaving him reliant on a wheelchair.
Louie has now spent more than six weeks in hospital receiving intensive treatment. He misses his sisters. He misses his dog. He misses being home.
And yet, amid everything, Louie still finds ways to smile.
“2025 is not my good year,” he says with a courage that’s beyond his years.
Behind Louie stands his mum, Holly - a single mother of three who’s had to give up work and put everything on hold to care for her sick son. While juggling hospital stays and specialist appointments, she’s also trying to keep life steady for Louie’s two siblings, who are navigating this emotional journey from the sidelines. Her strength, like Louie’s, is extraordinary.
Through Cars for Good, we’ve donated Louie’s family a 2015 Subaru Forester - a safe, reliable, and wheelchair-friendly car that gives them one less thing to worry about.
This car means more than transport. It means Louie’s parents can get him to vital appointments. It means hospital runs are a little less stressful. It means his family has space, safety, and a bit more freedom to focus on what matters most - being there for Louie.
Meeting with Louie's mum, Holly, and giving her the good news.
Louie still has a long road ahead. His treatment plan will span several more months of intense therapy, followed by two to three years of maintenance chemotherapy.
You can be part of his story.
